A bicycle vacation tour can be one of the most fun and exciting vacations in the world, but it is important that you choose the right bicycle for your trip. There are a few things in particular that need to be taken into consideration when buying a bike, which will be discussed in more detail here.
One of the first things to think about when it comes to buying a bike for your bicycle vacation tour, is to determine what your primary riding is going to be. This means deciding where you are going to be riding your bike on your tour.
If you are planning to go on a bicycle vacation tour in the Rockies for instance, you are obviously going to have to get a more durable, more expensive mountain bike than if you were just going biking in Illinois.
When choosing a bike for a bicycle vacation tour, remember that one of the main ways that a mountain bike differs from a regular bike, is they have very strong frames. Their frames are much more powerful than regular bikes so that they can stand up to the wear and tear of the rough terrain.
Keep in mind that downhill and trial bikes are for serious mountain bikers and because they are much more expensive, you will really only want to consider purchasing them if you have a lot of mountain biking experience and have the skill to require a bike like this.
Another important factor to consider when choosing a bike for a bicycle vacation tour, is price. Bicycles of any type will range significantly in price, but keep in mind that the company you shop at will determine how good a deal you are getting. Buying used is also an option, but if you are planning on using the bike often, or using it on rough terrain where you need to be able to depend on a strong and resilient bicycle, then buying used is not the best idea.
Going on a bicycle vacation tour your may be one of the best things that you ever do and will definitely be one experience that you are never going to forget.

Preparing for a Sea to Sea Bike Tour
Taking a sea to sea bike tour is a fascinating journey, as you get to see some beautiful coastal scenery and you test your physical abilities to their limits.
Physical preparation is more important than your packing.
There are certain things that you should think about before embarking on this cycling tour. Preparation is the key to ensuring that your cycling holiday goes as smoothly as possible.
Physical Preparation
Physical fitness is a must if considering a sea to sea bike tour. You should be able to cycle about ten miles daily without feeling exhausted and sore. Naturally you don’t have to cycle the ten miles at one time as you can easily break up the distance into comfortable times. Unless you are in top physical condition and used to cycling long distances, take frequent breaks. There are many interesting places to stop along your sea to sea bike tour, so don’t rush it unnecessarily.
Accommodation
Some people camp along the way, while others choose to stay at hotels, or bed and breakfasts. When considering the first option, remember that you will have your camping gear with you all the time and that it will be an added weight while you cycle. Get used to the weight of your camping gear prior to taking your trip. The more you get used to the weight before your vacation, the better off you will be.
If you are planning on staying in a hotel choose your route carefully and book in advance where possible. Don’t leave it to chance, as you might find yourself stranded with no place to stay. Booking in advance also allows you to pay ahead of time and minimize the amount of cash you carry with you. The added benefit is you may get hotel discounts by the advance payment. You don’t want to carry more cash than is necessary on any trip.
Bicycle tours are great, and a sea to sea tour is an enjoyable one worth your consideration.
